No Kings Augusta

Indivisible has organized a march and rally downtown beginning at 3:30 PM. They are asking for all kinds of volunteers but especially medics and marshals!

50501 volunteers with No Kings in Augusta will be directed alongside Indivisible's medics and marshals to maximize coverage and safety of the event. Indivisible is asking that all volunteers participate in their deescalation training hosted this coming Saturday, October 11. Further details about the training will be provided to any confirmed volunteers prior to that date.

If you'll be available in Augusta for No Kings on October 18 as a volunteer, please confirm a slot today!

No Kings Columbia

Some members of Augusta 50501 are caravaning to our sister organization's No Kings event nearby in Columbia, the state capitol of South Carolina. If you plan to join the Columbia march beginning at 1:30 PM, please let us know if you're able to volunteer! Some ways you can help at this event include livestreaming the march to Augusta 50501 Facebook or monitoring the sound system during speeches and performances.

Fall Festival Fundraiser to Reunite the Espinozas

One of our own community members has been separated from his husband by ICE detainment and deportation because the family couldn't afford to renew his DACA. Brian suffered inhumane conditions at the ICE center in Folkston and has now been displaced to Guadalajara. Tony plans to relocate with him so they can continue their lives together, but moving internationally is very expensive. They'll need funds for travel, new legal documentation, employment permissions, and a new home.

Augusta 50501 is organizing a fall fundraiser for the Espinozas the evening of Wednesday 10/15, and we'll need as many volunteers as we can get to pull off a great event, including greeters to orient the attendees, monitors for the bake sale and silent auction, costumed participants for a ghost walk, and supervisors for other kids' activities. Not only will you make a direct impact for our Augusta and 50501 communities, you'll have a ton of fun! Mark your calendars and tell a friend - more details to come soon!
